Solomon Gizaw

Solomon Gizaw is a distinguished leader in the fields of accounting, audit, tax, finance, and management consulting. With a wealth of experience spanning over three decades, Solomon has made significant contributions to Ethiopia's professional landscape and beyond.
Solomon graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Addis Ababa University in 1984. He furthered his education by obtaining a Chartered Certified Accountant Qualification from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a Chartered Management Accountant Qualification from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) in the UK. His pursuit of knowledge led him to achieve an MBA in Finance from the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, UK, in 2008. Additionally, Solomon obtained a Specialist Diploma in International Financial Reporting from ACCA, UK, in 2009.
Throughout his career, Solomon has held various leadership positions and played pivotal roles in shaping the accounting profession in Ethiopia. He served as a member of the International Assembly of ACCA-UK, representing Ethiopian Chartered Certified Accountants from 2005 to 2011. Solomon was instrumental in drafting the Financial Reporting Proclamation and establishing the Accounting and Auditing Board of Ethiopia.
As a co-founder, chairman and CEO of HST, his strategic decision-making, intelligent risk acumen in understanding markets, and investments in the capabilities of the firm, made HST one of Ethiopia's largest indigenous professional services firms. Solomon's leadership has led to the expansion of HST's capabilities in strategy development, corporate finance, and human capital development. Solomon's practical experience and strategic insights have enabled HST to provide tailored solutions to clients and contribute to policy advocacy by initiating bold knowledge platforms such as the CFO Forum Ethiopia and the Ethiopian Family Business Forum. He also served as a member of the Public Financial Management Advisory Council at the Ministry of Finance, contributing to the country's financial management capacity building efforts.
His leadership extends to the private sector, where he served as a member of Deloitte East Africa Executive Committee and as the Managing Director of Hohete Tibeb Share Company, which owns Ethio-Parents School, a prominent private school in Ethiopia.
